COVID 19

A new kind of virus CORONA has stuck the entire world. At the time of this post those affected by this virus has crossed 22 lakhs world over. In India alone the number has crossed 13000. It has become a pandamic.

It is being told that the virus first started at the end of December 2019 in WUHAN in China. It is said that it has spread to the people of the District from bats.  Being a contagious disease it has spread from the people of WUHAN  who travelled to other parts of the world have been instrumental in spreading this virus.  Initially China had the most affected. At the time of this post China has successfully contained the spread of this Virus but other  countries like USA, Italy, Spain, France have recorded more number of affected cases.  USA is the top of it all.

The symptoms of this virus are cough, breathlessness, fever.  Till date there is no remedy for this Virus. It is said that to find out a vaccine it would take at least 18 months.

Various theories are floated as to where this virus originated. Fingers are being pointed out at China. China is being accused of suppressing the pandemic and thus had deliberately allowed its spread throughout the world.  It is trying to make business over this pandemic by selling the test kits, masks etc.

The  President of USA had not only accused China for the spread of this Virus, he has also accused WHO for singing the China tune.

In India when the first case was detected in March 2020, effective measures were taken to screen the visitors who visited India from foreign countries. A lockdown was ordered by the Govt of India from 25th March to April 14th 2020 which has now been extended upto 3rd May 2020. Measures that were suggested were wearing of masks, washing our hands frequently and social distancing. These measures have borne fruit and spread of the pandemic has been contained to a large extent in a country like ours which has a population of 130 crores.

The adverse effect of this lock down is that our economy has taken a beating. Manufacturing sector and the services sector have been affected the most. Unemployment is staring at our face. Migrant labourers have suffered the most. Airlines, Railways and other transport sectors have faced great problems. The IMF has  predicted a good growth rate for our country in 2021.  Till then we have to keep our fingers crossed.  Also post May 3, 2020 when lock down is withdrawn stringent measures need to be adopted or else the spread of the virus will increase.  It now in the hands of the people of India.  Let us see what happens.
