KARNATAKA ELECTIONS

Recently concluded Assembly elections in Karnataka was a great Natak. The election results saw BJP garner 104 seats Congress 78 and JD(S) Led by Shri Kumaraswamy 38 and two independents in the house of 224 where 3 seats will see by election in June. Immediately after the results the congress announced that it would support Shri Kumaraswamy of JD(S) as Chief Minister, the two independents also assured support to Kumaraswamy. The total became 118. six more than the simple majority. The irony is both Congress and JD(S) fought fiercely against each other but now joined to defeat the BJP. Politics they say has strange bedfellows. But the Governor had other ideas. He invited B.S.Yedurappa of the BJP to form the Govt. beng the single largest party and gave him time for 15 days to prove his majority. The other two parties cried hoarse. Along with them the entire opposition Mamta, Chandrababu Naidu, Chandrasekara Rao, Sharad Pawar, Sitaram Yechury, Farooq Abdullah et al. They resorted to res...

R.K.Nagar By election

The RK Nagar byelection has become a buy election. Money flowed freely. Novel techniques were adopted to distribute money to the voters. EPS-OPS combine blame TTV Dinakaran for bribing the voters. In contrast TTV Dinakaran blames the EPS-OPS combine. DMK the principal opposition party could not match both the factions of the AIADMK..The victory of TTV Dinakaran is a jolt to EPS-OPS combine.. Death to democracy, Set back to DMK. BJP was nowhere in the picture getting less votes than NOTA.

LINGAA

Lingaa Rajinikanth's latest flick is disappointing to say the least. Rajni has lost his old fervour with his advancing age. His reflexes have withered. Gone is his action. Not a great dancer himself he use to make up this deficiency with his style. Even that has disappeared. The storyline is far from convincing. No wonder his film is a flop

AAP's victory

AAP has scored a stunning victory in the Delhi Assembly polls.  Winning 67 out of the 70 assembly seats leaving BJP far behind with 3 seats and Congress with no score. This stunning victory was unexpected.  With PM Modi's high voltage campaign and with about 120 MPs and 13 ministers being deputed for the election the results have been a great dampner for the BJP.  Even AAP would not have expected to win with such a margin. Most of the pollsters got it wrong.  They predicted victory for AAP with a simple majority but not this margin.Only News24-Chanakya came near. Even they have predicted 48 seats for AAP and less than 20 for BJP. But nobody expected less than 5 for BJP. Winning election is one thing and sustaining this momentum for the next 5 years is another thing. Now the AAP can table the Jan lokpal bill which gave them an alibi to resign within 50 days of power in 2013 saying the opposition never allowed them to table the bill. Now Arvind Kejriwal has to prove t...

J.Jayalalithaa

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ms. J.Jayalalithaa has been incarcerated. A CBI court on 27th of Sep.2014 convicted her on corruption charges on her disproportionate assets case which was initially filed by Dr. Subramanian Swamy way back in 1996 and later taken up by K. Anbhazagan of the DMK. The case was handled by CBI for these 18 long years judicially meandering and which now has culminated to its rightful conclusion that of convicting Ms.Jayalalithaa. She has been pronounced guilty as she could not give proper explanation for amassing Rs.66 crores while getting a salary of Rs.1 per month during the period of Chief Ministership from 1991 to 1996. She has been awarded  a sentence of 4 years imprisonment and a penalty of Rs.100 crores by Justice Micheal Cunha at the CBI Special Court at Bangaluru thus depriving her of her Chief Ministership and also debarring her from standing for elections for the TN Assembly which is due in May 2016. She and the AIADMK camp were very confident ...

Modi's US visit

Modi's five day's visit to the US has been a success in terms of popularity and the message he gave across to the NRI populace and the business persons there that he means business. He was able to successfully carry with him every one with finesse.  His address at the UN General Assembly snubbing the PAK premier without mentioning Kashmir but at the same time extending the olive branch with some thorns in it is to say that Modi was at his best. If all his intentions are translated into actions India I am sure will be a super power.
